An Interactive City Choice Model and Its Application for Measuring the Intercity Interaction

Measuring the interaction between cities is an important research topic in many disciplines, such as sociology, geography, economics, and transportation science. The traditional most widely used spatial model gravity model, but it requires parameters to be artificially set. In this paper, we propose a parameter-free interactive city choice (ICC) that measures intercity from perspective of individual behavior. ICC assumes probability choosing interact with proportional number opportunities destination inversely intervening origin city, calculated using travel time network. intensity can obtained by calculating product city’s population. We apply measure among 339 China analyze impact changes Chinese land network 2005 2018 on intensity. results show our provides alternative method for measuring interaction.
